We have been blessed the past few weeks with beautiful summer weather - temperatures in the 70s and 80s, bright sunshine, and gentle breezes - delightful! The
leaves are just beginning to turn and once we get some cooler temperatures,
they should be just gorgeous. It’s also about time to go ap-ple and pumpkin-picking
or maybe take a hay-ride or get lost in a corn maze, or…. Here’s some
information on local farms. Pick
Your Own Spiller
Farm, Spiller Farm Lane, Wells, ME Giles Family Farm, 139 Waterboro Road, Alfred, ME. Take time to pick-your-own Cortland, Macoun, McIntosh, or Red Delicious apples or pick-your-own pumpkins. Have a picnic at their tables overlooking the orchard and the lake. |
Zach’s Corn Maze, 7 Colby Turner Rd, York. ME. Located on a 215 acre farm, the great corn maze is open from 12-6 pm; flashlight tag is open from 7-10 pm. There are also wagon rides through the corn maze and pumpkin fields and pick-your-own pumpkins. Brackett’s Orchard, 224 Sokokis Ave, Limington Brackett Orchards is thought to be the oldest family-owned and operated orchard in Maine. Open most weekends, you can pick-your-own apples from their hilltop orchard. They also have hayrides, apple donuts, balloons, and pumpkin painting. Dates to Remember
Annual OgunquitFest, October 21st-23rd. Activi-ties include pumpkin and cookie decorating, costume parade, classic car show, craft bazaar, and more. Kennebunk Harbor Fest, October 22nd. The bridge is open, the shops are all open. Come join the festivities. |
